Commercial

The technical aspects of commercial photography are a challenge that I really enjoy facing. I feel that I have done my job when I make my client look and feel like the artist by helping them to realize their vision. Whether I am hired for an ad, a promotional piece, real estate shots or the cover of a magazine..... my clients needs are always top priority.

Global Awareness Project

In July of 2007 I helped to co-found the Global Awareness Project, a 501c3 non-profit organization that helps to create awareness in communities for service related organizations through the arts.

We are currently planning a four month Art Walk Series in Myrtle Beach 2nd Saturdays, June through September at The Market Common. We will be collaborating with art groups and non-profits from all over the state to build a network of support for culture and service.

Photodocumentary

My interest in photojournalism has sparked most recently and I am enjoying capturing images that tell a story. Please click on a link below to see my most recent work and enjoy the photo essay below of my first experience at a Maine Media Workshop

Maine Media Workshop - The Photo Essay - A Course with Marcus Bleasdale
An intense mix of classroom and live shooting. I spent 5 days in Camden, Maine soaking up New England's fall last September and learning about the photo essay. The pictures below tell the story of Five Town Communities that care, a grassroots non-profit organization that works with middle high school students, providing them a place to go after school complete with activities such as learning how lasso a cow, karate and music. Five Town Communities That Care seeks to promote healthy youth development and to prevent problem adolescent behaviors such as substance abuse, suicide, violence and delinquency, school drop out and teen pregnancy.

Many thanks to Dalene Dutton Executive Director of Five Town CTC, as she opened to me the heart of the organization.

one of the many afterschool activities at Five Town CTC is teaching the students how to properly lasso a cow

back on the bus......

Five Town Area residents of all ages said they think suicide is an important problem in the community and that a major difficulty for youth is being able to talk to adults about suicidal feelings.

Body of Light

My first (and only) nude series was inspired by the seductive power of the human form. The first series titled, "Body of Light" explores the contrast of highlight and shadow.

Southern Low Country

I have been living in South Carolina now for 9 years, so hear are a few images of the south that reflect the beauty and charm of this small corner of the planet.

England

Ladder on Wall

When I arrived on US soil just over ten years ago, becoming a professional photographer was a dream I was determined to make a reality here in the "land of opportunity." As my career as a photographer began to take shape, I dedicated my very first art series to my first love; the land of my birth. Each image was shot using film and developed in a dark room. My first and sadly, only experience in a dark room thus far.
Years later, these images still are a beautiful reminder of where I proudly call home. Enjoy.

Thailand

I have been to Thailand 4 times. I would not hesitate to go back. I am struck by the diversity of simple things, such as how one goes about their day to day business. This is one of the many reasons why I travel.
Oh yeah, and they have big golden Buddhas in Thailand. Definitely a plus.

Cambodia

I journeyed with camera in hand to Cambodia in January of 2008. The majority of the images shown below were taken at Angkor Wat, one of the most famous ruins in the world. Cambodia was an amazing country with a "take your breath away" simplicity about her.

Ecuador

Ecuador was an amazingly rich and diverse country. You could go from exploring jungles of the Amazon to treking snow capped volcanos to a beach paradise all in one day.
Jess and I chose Ecuador as our summer of 2008 adventure and despite the weather not fully cooperating, we could not have been happier to get our "discovery on" in South America. Our only wish...... to go back, of course.

Cultural tours just outside of Cuenca where you learn indiginous healing herbs
and how to plow a field (just to name a few)

Tradition lives on in Cuenca, Ecuador as hat making for the indiginous tribes to shade the Ecuadorian sun is still seen as an art.
